Bellator MMA’s second trip into New Mexico will come on Wednesday, July 31, and will again take place at the Santa Ana Star Center in Rio Rancho. The main event will see Andrey “Spartan” Koreshkov (13-0) challenging “Funky” Ben Asken(11-0) for the Bellator Welterweight title.

Russia’s Andrey Koreshkov won the season 7 welterweight tournament by defeating Jordan Smith (UD), Marius Zaromskis (KO), and Lyman Good (UD). The undefeated “Spartan” holds KO/TKO wins in Bellator over Tiawan Howard and Derrick Krantz. Koreshkov, a member of the Rusfighter Sport Club, has 8 of 11 stoppage wins by KO/TKO. This young striker is lethal especially with his upper cuts.

Ben Askren is a former Olympic wrestler who trains with Rofusport in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Askren won the season two Bellator Welterweight champ and then took the title by unanimous decision from, the champion then, Lyman Good. Askren since winning the title has made successful defenses against Jay Hieron (SD), Douglas Lima (UD), and Karl Amoussou (TKO). Askren has top notch wrestling a good jiu jitsu game, and is scary because he gets better every time he in the cage.

Tickets for this event are currently on a pre sale, sale. Bellator has not formally made an announcement bout this event. But the above mentioned Welterweight title fight is being promoted for Bellator 97.
