KNUXX SA: You have taken a lot of criticism because you took the Hanru Botha fight…what is your side of the story Boyd?

BOYD ALLEN: Yes, I have taken a bit of criticism but it’s not as simple as people may think, i’m ranked 2nd in the featherweight division and number 1 is my friend and teammate Demarte ,so I cannot fight the next in line for a title shot. With opponents pulling out and getting injured i’m in need of fights and will take who they offer, even though it may not be the fights I ask for a fight is a fight and I never underestimate any opponent. Hanru was one of few that took the fight.

KNUXX SA: What is your response to people saying that you have never been tested in your fight career?

BOYD ALLEN: Well I guess my response is that if the opponents hadn’t pulled out that I was supposed to fight that question wouldn’t be relevant.

KNUXX SA: Why do you not fight at light weight?

BOYD ALLEN: I walk around pretty light and perform well at featherweight. My next bout is at lightweight so let’s see how it goes.

KNUXX SA: What are your thoughts on a fight with Leon Mynhardt or Fred Nauman?

BOYD ALLEN: I would really enjoy those match-ups and I’ve asked for them but they were unable to make those specific match-ups possible for now

KNUXX SA: How much do you know about Hanru Botha and if you win the fight what is your next step in your career?

BOYD ALLEN: I don’t know too much about him, besides the fact that he’s keen to fight and comes from a solid wrestling background. I don’t like to look past a fight as it’s the only concern I have right now.

KNUXX SA: This is up to you….you can say whatever you like…..

BOYD ALLEN: Everything happens for a reason, I fight because I love to fight no matter what happens, I try not to lose track of that.
