Thanks to the use of Skype we had the chance to talk with Anthony Birchak as he prepares to face Matt Leyva on December 1, 2012 as the main event of Jackson’s MMA Series X taking place on December 1, 2012 at the Tingley Coliseum in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Thank you for the time Anthony, how are you doing?

I’m doing great man, thanks for taking the time out to talk to me, that’s awesome of you.

What’s it feel like to be main eventing a card?

This is my first main event experience you know; I think it’s good for me. I plan on moving on to the next level of MMA and I think feeling the pressure of what it’s like to be the last fight of the night and that kind of all eyes on me aspect is something that I’ll be able to feed off of and really uses for later experience.

Known as a submission guy, but of late a 2 fight win streak both by TKO’s- have they just came to you, has it been a strategical change in your that’s have made the TKO’s come possible what has it been?

This is just the evolution man; everyone knows that I’m a ground guy a good wrestler a good submission guy and everyone would want to keep it standing. To my credit when I want to take people down I take people down and the thing is you’re just seeing the evolution of Anthony Birchak. I’m trying to become a full mixed martial artist. I want to be a threat on the feet, I want to be a threat on the ground, and I want to be a threat in transitions. My goal is to just have people realize stepping in the cage with me will not be easy anywhere you go.

Both you and Matt are coming into this fight on two fight win streaks, what do you think lies ahead of the winner of this fight?

The Jackson’s MMA series does a really good job of catapulting guys to the next level. They gotten a lot of credit for what they done for a lot of guys and getting the big phone call and hopefully that’s the result of this, either me or Matt. We both have good records and have fought good opponents and hopefully one of us gets the phone call, if not both of us after this bar burner.
