With only eight days left before Invicta FC 5 on April 6, 2013, I was able to talk with Cassie Rodish (4-3) and ask her about facing Simona Soukupova (3-2-1).

MF: Thank you for the time Cassie, how you doing?

CR: You’re welcome. I doing really good I’m in the last couple weeks of my training camp an I’m feeling really good physically and mentally. So, I’m super excited to be back in Kansas City on April 3rd.

MF: Invicta FC 5 taking on Simona Soukupova. Third time fighting for Invicta, how does it feel having this promotion out there getting you fights and keeping you busy. Because, as we all know it was a big problem for a lot of women fighters?

CR: A lot of us we’re fighting once maybe twice a year, if you were lucky. So having a show that really caters to women and cares about us will keep us busy. That’s huge. It allows us to become better athletes and in return we put on better shows for them.

MF: On that note with Invicta they are also offering women a way to catch up to the men’s MMA in the respect that from many of the women I’ve interviewed work full-time jobs and fight. But, now you have joined this group of women being full-time fighters?

CC: Yeah, really exciting step for me to really focus on my training and to be able to put more time in. I’ve always wanted to put more time in but when you have a 9-5 job it kind of takes over the day. Now I’m able to get extra training in, extra hours in the gym, my body is able recover correctly before I have to go back for another session. It’s really excited and I’m really grateful to Invicta. Women’s MMA is getting huge and I’m so excited to be a part of.
