Recently Mika Frankl headed to Mean 1 MMA and Fitness in Rio Rancho to interview Andres “The Bullet Quintana about his upcoming main event bout against Brain Castillo at The Mexican Standoff on May 25 in Juarez, Mexico.
MF: 10 days away from the fight how is everything coming together?
AQ: Yeah, we’re about 10 days away. Training camp is going amazingly. I was coming off a small injury, so I was excited to get back in the gym. I started training before I even knew about the fight. But, once I knew that I got the fight. I then had to call Bellator and ask them.
MF: What was that like calling them and asking if you could fight outside the promotion?
AQ: I was a little nervous. I know there’s a risk if I lose I don’t know how they would see it or anything. I was hoping they would let me fight. It took them a few days to get back to me and when they did they gave me the okay.
MF: Did they say anything about make sure you win?
AQ: No, they just said not to get hurt and that they want me on the July card. That was basically it short and sweet.
