Clay “The Carpenter” Guida Looks To Rebuild In New Weight Class

Clay Guida announced through his management team, VFD Sports Marketing that he will make the move from Lightweight to Featherweight.

Guida who does not cut much weight to 155lbs will look to have a size advantage at 145 lbs. Guidas’ next bout will be at Featherweight but no opponent has been brought up as of yet.

Guida makes the move as he’s in the a downward stretch having lost  his last two a unanimous decision in a number 1 contenders match to now UFC Lightweight Champion Benson Henderson and a split decision loss to Gray Maynard at UFC on FX 4.

Prior to the losing streak “The Carpenter” had beat Shannon Gugerty, Rafael dos Anjos, Takanori Gomi, and Anthony Pettis. The Jackson’s/Winkeljohn’s team member is (9-7) in 16 UFC Lightweight bouts. Guida is (29-13) in MMA and has 19 of 29 wins by stoppage with 4 TKO/KO’s and 15 submissions. Guida started fighting as a pro in 2003.

Clay Guida is a high energy fighter with a non-stop motor, wrestling skills, submissions and could possibly make a run at the Featherweight title in 2013.
