On Thursday July 12, 2012 the great folks at the Chavez Dojo allowed KNUXX inside their gym so we could get an inside look at how “The South Valley’s Own” Angelica  Chavez is doing as she prepares for her Invicta FC bout against Nicdali Rivera-Calanoc. Below is the interview…

Question: With growing up around Combat sports, when did you start training? Was it right after walking?

Answer: Yeah, pretty much. This is my play ground, the mats. I grew up here, so I don’t really remember how old I was when I started training.

Question: How did you know that fighting was going to be more than a hobby and was going to be your professional career?

Answer: It kind of just evolved into it you know. We had no real plan on it, just kind of happened. Not really sure when or how, but just happened.

Question: What led to changing from Boxing to Mixed Martial Arts?

Answer: Just more activity. I really would have preferred to stay Kickboxing but there’a lot more activity in MMA.

Question: What are you thoughts on Invicta and being part of the all female organization? And what they’re doing for Women’s MMA?

Answer: I’m really excited. I think like it’s a awesome opportunity to be able to fight on this card. Especially the second card, you know? The first one was awesome and I’m glad to be part of this next one. I appreciate the opportunity.

Question: Do you have any thoughts on your opponent Nicdali Rivera- Calanoc?

Answer: Not really I’m ready. I sure she’s ready. She’s got alot alot of experience and I’m ready for a good fight.
