Coming off of an impressive Amateur debut KO victory over Fernie Garica, we had the opportunity to speak with Eric Dodson.
Impressive Knock out performance, how’s that feeling?
“Good, feels really good. There was a lot of hype coming into this fight because I am John’s brother and I have a lot to measure up to, so I’m glad I could finish him in the first round. It turned out pretty good.”
You think it could have went any better?
“I think it went exactly the way it was supposed to, it wasn’t overly long and it showcased my hands, which is a good thing. Good luck for other people.’
We know all fighters are perfectionists, is there anything you can pick out already that you know you didn’t do right; I need to get back in the gym and work on?
“Well we didn’t go to the ground or anything so I want to work on like real time actual fight scenarios and develop my skills more. I liked to hit the ground more and try to showcase it or see how I do because this is what we do this is the true test after all. You can do it a bunch in practice but how you react in the cage is where it’s at.’
With the first performance under your belt, when’s the next one going to be?
“Whenever they ask me I want to try and get as much experience as possible and try to ride my brother coattails to success and try to make a name for myself.”
