On Friday May 3 the Midwest Fight League will present Saloon Showdown 18, at the Whiskey Wild Saloon 2508 Paris Road in Columbia, Missouri. In the main event former Bellator fighter and Columbia, Missouri’s own Kevin Croom will face The Caveman Crew Adam Stickley. Prior to starting his journey from New Mexico, where Croom now trains, to Missouri. I had the chance to catch up with him at Momma D’s Dungeon.

MF: This weekend Kevin you’re heading home to headline a card (Saloon Showdown 18), what’s the feelings and emotions like heads towards the fight?

KC: It’s pretty cool I haven’t been able to fight in my home town in like 5 years now. It’s pretty small place and going to be a pretty small venue you know but it’s going to be really fun to be able to fight for my fans that have been with me since day one and my friends; it’s going to be a good time. So I’m pretty excited.

MF: Adam Rider Stickley he’s your opponent?

KC: Yeah so I guess he has two names or whatever. I guess he got adopted later on in life or something like that, so yeah part of his record come up as Adam Rider but he’s been using Adam Stickley for the last few years. He’s 5-3 fighting out of the Caveman Crew in Kansas City Missouri. I know them. I have been around before. I fought a few of them as an amateur. He’s actually fought 2 people that I’ve fought. He just beat the kid who beat me in my very first pro fight (Jose Vega) fight 5-6 years ago. And then a few years ago he got beat really bad by the kid I just beat in 42 seconds (Brian Davidson). He’s definitely really tough. He thinks he can beat me. Which is always good, and leads to a good fight. He’s going to come out really tough. He’s kind of like a takewondo striker, you know with some jiu jitsu and likes to change stances a lot. It’s going to be a good fight.

MF: You come into this fight on a 3 fight winning streak, what’s the momentum like?

KC: Um, I like it and last time I was on a little streak it got really spread out like over a year and half, 3 fights. And I’ve done three in the past 6 months, I think; which is how I like to fight one right after the other. I think it’s really good. I’m kind of a mental person, so I really feel the less time I have to think about it the less time I have to psych myself out about it. You know what I’m sayin like let’s just go out keep it on a role, I’m punching people in the face let’s keep it up. I’m doing a good job and lets just keep doing what I’m doing.
