KNUXX SA: Who is Gordon Roodman?

GORDON: I’m a husband and father of 4. I work a full time job and my blood pumps pure MMA. I Love to train, I love to fight and I love my family.

KNUXX SA: How do you balance being a father, husband and fighter?

GORDON: It is no easy task that I can assure you. It takes a tremendous amount of sacrifices and planning in order to train my 4 session a day, work a full day job and then still ensure I am able to be a good father who puts quality time into his kids. But hey, I manage man. Got to do what you got to do when you pursue a dream so big it scares you, a dream of becoming a championship calibre fighter.

KNUXX SA: Why do the fans call your last fight the “Nicholas Cage” Fight?

GORDON: Ha ha ha … My last fight came with a tremendous amount of so called ‘bad blood’ and trash talk. I faced off against the ‘then current’ MFC MW champion. He’ made no secret of the fact that he deemed me an unworthy opponent and had very little respect for my abilities and track record. So much so that he scheduled himself a Title defence for a mere 7 days after our scrap. Then when fight night eventually came, I went in there and handled business as I always do; managed to get the K.O. win a mere 56 seconds into round one after a beautiful multi punch combo that was ended off with a massive straight left. So when the dust settled and all was said and done fans started to go crazy over the fact that with such a main attraction fight being hyped up so tremendously they were elated that it was all in the end – ‘gone in 60 second’ ha ha ha . . .

KNUXX SA: Is it true that you want to be the first IFC Welter weight champion?

GORDON: IFC has treated me with tremendous professionalism and character. They put up amazing events and I enjoy fighting for the promotion. I want that WW belt, I’m coming for it, one victim at a time, and I will earn it in the end. So yeah, it’s true without a shadow of a doubt.

KNUXX SA: Now that you have your pro license what is your next step?

GORDON: The way I see it the last 4 years have lead me to this point and now that I have my license to compete as a professional fighter in this country, I believe my journey only begins. I’m gona keep doing what I’ve been doing and putting in the hard work needed in order to get to the top. From this point on it ain’t gona get any easier and I fully aware of that.

KNUXX SA: Who would you like to thank that has helped you in your career so far?

GORDON: Firstly my family, for all the support they give me and sacrifices they endure, I would never have been able to attain any form of success if it wasn’t for their complete backing. Then to all my coaching staff, management and training partners at Shido Fighting Systems. You guys have guided and moulded me in to the ambassador and warrior I am today. Then lastly to each and every sponsor along the way, without you guys none of this would have happened. I appreciate all the assistance, backing and continued support – You guys f#cken rock man.
